Wow! It is Thursday already! Wow! Wow!! It is November already! Time Flies!
Language Arts~
Today we practiced our spelling skill of complex consonant clusters. We also practiced finding the correctly spelled plural nouns. Some of them were quite tricky. We worked on the test taking strategy of the author and me. Basically, we made inferences based on the text and our own experiences. We wrote a timed journal entry about a special object that we lost or found. In vocab vine we learned about cur (care, attention) and vis, vid (see).
Word Masters - A paper about the word masters competition came home today. This is a national contest that involves knowing the listed words so well that you can use the words to complete analogies. We are not assigning the words as homework. However, if a student wants to learn the words, they may do so on their own. The test will be given the first week of December. Everyone will take the test, but the test will not count against the students grade.
HW: Finish packet.
Math~
Our focus today was the thousandths place value. We used our base ten blocks to visualize the thousandths place. We also practiced writing and reading the place value.
HW: Journal pages 93-95 and study link 4.7
Science~
Today was a hand's on day. We observed and studied plant fossils. We then compared the fossils to a modern plant. We designed an environment where the plant fossil might live.
