LA~
Book orders are due on Friday.
Today, we sorted our spelling words by how they become plurals. We reviewed the different ways of making a noun plural during our grammar lesson. We read and discussed the story "Rattlers" in our reading books. We paid special attention to the question and answer format of each section and how that organization technique can help us figure out the main idea and details of each section. We began a new creative writing project. Each student was given a newspaper headline and then has to write a newspaper article about the headlines. Look for the writing to be posted on our bulletin boards outside our rooms. We learned that amphi and ambi means both in our vocab vine time. We also reviewed our RiT words.
HW: Keep working on the weekly homework and read 20-30 minutes.
Math~
Today we began working with fractions and decimals. Fractions can become decimals in two different ways. The first way is to divide the numerator by the denominator. The second way is to use equivalent fractions. Try to make the equivalent fraction with a denominator of 10 or 100. Then it is easy to convert to a decimal.
HW: Journal pages 137-141 and study link 5.5 Students did have time to work on this in class.
Science~
Today we reviewed the different types of rocks. We learned about metamorphic rock and how it is formed. We also learned about the rock cycle. Rocks are always changing, but the changes happen very slowly over hundreds of thousands of years. We also learned about a cave of crystals in Mexico.
