I hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend.
Language Arts
Today we are back to working in the purple book. Our story today is called "Goin' Someplace Special" Our comprehension skill for the week is story elements with a focus on how the characters affect the story. Our vocabulary for the week includes these words: scald, permission, autograph, fare, blurted, clenched, chiseled and spectacular. Our grammar skill for the week is pronouns and their antecedents. We will have a spelling test and all the other assessments on Friday.
Homework is weekly homework. It is due Friday. However because of the shortened week, students don't have to write a summary. I will be taking reading minutes off the I Love To Read Calendar.
A note about the calendar: Many of the kids are not reading on Friday and Saturday. I think because they figure that the week is over on Friday Morning. Those minutes still count. I just count them for the next week.
There is a camp under tomorrow.
Book orders are also due tomorrow.
Math
Today we reviewed how to add mixed numbers. Homework is Study Link 8.2 and page 256 in our journal 2.
Science
Today we focused on observing our mock rocks. We took special notice of the different properties of the rock. (color, mass, size, shape, texture etc.)
ART Smart tomorrow.
