Language Arts
Today we took our spelling pretest. We learned about special adjectives called articles. We learned when to use a and an. We read our story, "Ranita, the Frog Princess." Our story is a play this week and the kids had a great time reading the parts. Our vocabulary for the week is selfish, bumbling, cranky, commotion, exasperated, specialty and famished. Our vocabulary skill is antonyms. Our comprehension skill is making judgments and and analyzing characters based on their actions. We also worked on our published books today. Your child should have an order form if you want to order more published books in his/her folder. The first book is free. Addtional copies cost $14.95 plus shipping and handling. Please return your orders by Wednesday. There is a box to check even if you don't want to buy anything.
Math
Today we learned how to divide fractions. We discovered that it was pretty easy as long as we remembered to flip the 2nd fraction. Our homework is study link 8.12.
Test Alert: There will be a test over unit 8 on Thursday!
Science
Today we began investigating mountains. We learned to make a topographic map. We also learned about contour lines and intervals. No homework today.
