Totally Terrific Tuesday

I noticed many more coats, hats and gloves today. That's a good thing. It seems as if they cold weather is here to stay!

Don't forget the PBA day on Thursday. School starts 2 1/2 hours later. Buses should run about 2 1/2 hours late too.

Dazzle Craft Night is on Thursday evening from 5:30-7:30 pm.

Language Arts
We practiced our handwriting this morning. We also had vocabualry vine. We got recipe boxes today. That should help us keep our cards in ABC order. It is so much easier to find the right card when they are in order. We worked on our grammar skill today. Sometimes it is hard to figure out when a noun is possesive and when a noun is plural. Here are a couple of key questions: 1. Does the noun mean more than one? Write the plural. 2. Does the noun own something? Write the possessive. We also practiced our vocab and comprehension skills. We had music and PE today. Tomorrow we have reading buddies and our last bullying session.

Math
Today we figured out how to use a map scale to answer questions. We used a ruler to measure distances between cities and along rivers. There was also a reivew page on angles. Studylink 4.3 was assigned for homework.

Science
It was nice to see Mrs. Woods class again. We were great problem solvers today. We tried to light 2 light bulbs using one d-cell. It worked but the light bulbs were dim. So we added another d-cell. That helped. The light bulbs got brighter. However we learned that we had to have the d-cells facing the same direction. The type of circuit we built today was called a series circuit. A series circuit has all the electricity recievers and sources in one circle. The electricity has only one path to follow.

Tomorrow look for a study guide to come home that covers everything we will be learning about this rotation. The final test will be sometime around the first of December. That will be tricky because it will be right after Thanksgiving break.

Have a great evening!
