Monday....

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend.  It was a bit soggy! 

Northpoint Family Carnival is on Friday from 5:30-8:00.  Pre-order ticket sale forms are coming home today and are due on Wednesday.  Papers went home with youngest and only children.

Language Arts~
Today we started reading in our purple reading books.  Our first story is "Miss Alaineus."  Our vocabulary for the week includes slumped, soggy, capable, categories, strands, gigantic, credit and luminous.  Our vocabulary skill focuses on using context clues to find synonyms.  Our comprehension skill is using the characters and plot to help you understand the story.  Our spelling focus is short vowel works.  In grammar, we are reviewing complete sentences. Our RIT words are first person, characterization, character, foreshadowing and fragment.

HW:  Weekly homework came home today.  Due Friday!

Math~
We continued to review for tomorrow's test.
HW:  Study

Science (G)~
We began chapter 2.  Our focus question:  What Makes up our Solar System?   We made a model of the earth and moon today.  The earth is 4 times the size of the moon.  The distance between the two objects is 30 times the size of the earth's diameter.  The moon is much smaller and farther away than we think.  We also read about stars and galaxies. 
HW:  Answer the before you move on questions on page 61.
