Homeroom Friends,
Our yearbook page is going to be based on the Dr. Seuss book "Oh the Places You'll Go!" On Monday our awesome yearbook mom is going to take photos. We would like to have each child bring in something small that represents a future goal. For example: If a student wants to be a photographer, they could bring a camera. A future pitcher for the White Sox would bring a baseball. We will be starting the pictures on Monday and finishing on Wednesday if needed.
Language Arts~
We visited our reading buddies in kindergarten, then we had a bit of a study hall so we could get caught up on writing and questions. We took chapter 13 vocabulary quiz, had a brief study session, and then took our chapter 14 quiz. We reviewed questions and previewed chapter 15 vocabulary. Then we practiced a great comprehension study skill. We previewed the questions for chapter 15 and then read chapter 15. As we came to a potential answer to a question we wrote the question number in the book. This is a great technique for ISTEP, MAP testing, Social Studies and Science. It helps us focus on what we are looking for.
HW: Study for chapter 15 vocabulary quiz and finish chapter 15 questions.
Math~
Now that we have reviewed adding and subtracting, we moved on to solving story problems. We followed a 4 step plan: Understand, plan, do and check.
HW: Study link 2.4
Science (Grannan)~
Today we answered the question: How can we create a model to show how the sun's reflection causes moon phases. We discovered that the earth's rotation is the key. If the earth didn't rotate the moon wouldn't have phases.
HW: None
