I hope everyone had a great winter break. Winter decided to come all at once this weekend. :)
Language Arts
Today was spent getting back into routine. Our story this week is "When Esther Morris Headed West." It is a biography about the first woman to hold a public office in the Wyoming territory. It is written with a lot of voice. Our vocabulary includes: representative, colonel, attorney, qualify, postpone, submit, legislature and satisfactory. Our vocabulary skill is using a pronunciation key. Our comprehension skill is evaluating facts and opinions.
Our spelling skill is v/v. This means that each spelling word has two vowels but that each vowel contributes a sound. (Riot - ri ot)
Our grammar skill is verb tenses. Today we focused on the present tense.
We are reviewing RIT words this week.
Don't forget reading projects are due on Thursday.
Math
We reviewed subtracting fractions. Students needed to finish their worksheet for homework. (Some kids are already done) The test will be on Thursday of this week.
Science
Today we made flipper systems. We saw how we could make a cork flip higher or longer.
Science Test will be on Friday. Science Expo proposals are due on Friday!
