Original Works of Art!
We will be doing this art project on Friday afternoon. We are making collages this year. In order for your child to be prepared, please discuss some topics that symbolize them or your family as a whole that they can create a collage to represent. Students are welcome to bring in photos. Be aware that these photos will not be returned. They can also use magazine photos. Either way they will need enough material to cover a 9 X 11 sheet of paper. We will have some magazines available but students may want o get a head start by cutting out pictures and words at home.
Math
Today we reviewed exponents and introduced powers of 10. A number is a power of 10 if you can multiply 10s to get that number. Study link 7.2 and math boxes are homework tonight. In addition a few students may be finishing up p. 213 and 214 from yesterday.
Language Arts
We visited the planetarium today and learned about the ages of stars. We also reviewed language arts concepts. We also reviewed spelling defintions and comparing and contrasting information. We worked on page 3 in our published books. This needs to be finished up, edited and signed by a parent for homework tonight.
Science
Today we took apart our mock rocks and discussed the difference between a rock and a mineral. No homework.
