ISTEP starts tomorrow. No homework this week. Be sure to go to bed early, eat a healthy breakfast and bring snacks and gum tomorrow. We test from 11:00-11:45 and again from 1-2:05.
Language Arts
We started our Time for Kids article today. We are reading about voting. Our vocabulary words include compelled, presidential, disrespectful, unenthusiastically, succeed, and preoccupied. Our comprehension skill is generalizations. (taking prior knowledge and text and making a broad statement) Our grammar skill is subject and verb agreement with pronouns.
Math
Today we reviewed geometry concepts. No homework.
Science
Today we learned that calcite (a very common mineral) reacts by fizzing when placed in a mild acid (vinegar). We are using this information to see if calcite is present in four common rocks: limestone, sandstone, basalt, and marble.
