Don't forget about Galaxy Gallery tonight from 5:30-7:30.
Language Arts
We reviewed language arts skills. We also reviewed the use of possessive and contraction homophones: your, you're, their, they're, it's and its. We talked about fables, metaphors, and morals. We discussed the author's purpose in writing Catch of the Day. We decided that it was to entertain us and also to educate us. We went to music and to PE.
Math
We continued to practice finding a whole number when we are given a fraction or a percent. For example: Grandma baked cookies. 21 of them were oatmeal raisin. The oatmeal raisin were 3/5 of the cookies she baked. What was the total number of cookies? We figured out that you divide by the numerator (21 divided by 3) and then multiply by the denominator (7*5) The answer is the whole number (35). No homework tonight. The test will be next Wednesday.
Health
Homeroom came back for health today. Our current chapter deals with keeping fit and healthy. Homework tonight is to make a poster that promotes sunscreen. It must have a healthy message.
