I hope that everyone had a great long weekend!
Language Arts
We went to PE this morning. We had our spelling pretest. Our focus this week is on the long e sound. In grammar we worked on combining two short sentences into one compound sentence. We also talked about our vocabulary words for the week: roamed, completed, journey, natural, and wildlife. Our comprehension skill for thew week is still main idea and details. Our story for the week is Animals Come Home to our National Parks.
Our RIT words....
Flashback - When an author stops the action in a book and goes back to explain an earlier event.
Foreshadowing - When an author hints at what is going to happen later in the story.
Idiom - A phrase that does not mean what the words actually say. It is raining cats and dogs.
Climax - The most exciting part of the story.
Alliteration - The repetition of the beginning consonant sounds. Silly Sally selected seashells.
Don't forget book orders are due tomorrow.
