Don't forget that we are still collecting boxtops! PTO is still accepting donations for the first annual donation drive as well!
Language Arts
Today we reviewed spelling meanings and how to fix run-on sentences and sentence fragments. We learned about the Greek and Latin roots of Carn (flesh, meat) and Vore (eat, devour) Our reading buddies visited our room for the first time. They loved meeting Mozzarella! We also reread Pipiolo and the Roof dogs. We reviewed cause and effect. We also read in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Please remember to send in those candy boxes. So far we have one!
The kids and I also discussed the reading projects today. Time is quickly running out for the first quarter. All students need to read 2 books independently. One book they will take an AR test on and the other they will do the book jacket project on. Read Aloud books don't count! We have 4 students who have read a book and passed a test.
Math
We practiced muliplication of whole numbers and decimals today. Homework is a worksheet. It is expected that students will answer all of the problems in order to solve the riddle. It looks like the math test will be on Tuesday of next week.
DARE
Today Officer Redman talked about consequences of our actions. He also stressed that kids should have a plan before they are faced with a choice.
Don't forget that Friday is No Child Left Inside day! We will be spending quite a bit of time outside that day. Students should dress appropriately.
