Language Arts
Tomorrow is the final day for October book orders!!!
We are almost all done presenting books. We have one person to go. We also went to IMC today to choose new books to read.
We had a special visitor today. Amazon John from Silly Safaris came to visit. He taught us all about different animals and how we can help keep animals from going extinct. Some of our friends got to help out Amazon John. At the end of the program, we all got to pet some of the animals.
We will be reviewing skills this week. That means no homework and no spelling test.
Math
We had a very short class today and just worked on multiplication with decimals, a review of angles and accelerated math. Accelerated Math is a program that generates worksheets for the kids to review and grades them using a scanning system. We use A.M. to review skills previously taught in math class. You will see two types of papers come home. Those labeled practice are not entered as grades. Those labeled tests are entered as grades.
Science
Today we learned about conductors and insulators. We tested a variety of objects and discovered that most metals are conductors. However if the metal is covered by paint, plastic or other materials, it won't act as a conductor. Tomorrow we will try to construct a circuit with a switch by ourselves. We will also try to find hidden wires that complete a circuit. There will also be an open note quiz about electricity on Wednesday.
