Language Arts
We reviewed many different grammar and word skills in our morning work. We also reviewed some word origins. We reviewed our grammar skill of nouns. We also worked on the different ways to make a plural nouns. Here are the rules we talked about today.
- Most words just add an s
- words that end in s, ss, ch or x add an es
- words that end in consonant letter and y change the y to an i and add es
- words that end in a vowel and then an y just add an s.
Math
Our new geometry unit is causing us to do some serious thinking. Today we reviewed what we learned in class yesterday. Tomorrow we will start working with protractors to measure angles.
We also reviewed math facts and practiced our fact fluency skills.
Science
Today we used iron objects, iron filings, and compasses to detect magnets hidden in a box. Each of the objects reacted to the magnet in a different way. I miscalculated yesterday. I said that the magnet quiz would be on Thursday. I must have thought that Tuesday when I was typing my blog. The quiz will be tomorrow. Don't panic! It is open note and I made sure that everyone had all the notes today.
